SCV Binder Drive

About Us

Harrison Tate-Pascua (he/him) and Sloane S.T. (they/them) are a team of trans and gender non-people bringing binders to fellow trans and gnc people in the city of SCV. They know that being a trans/gnc person is hard, and harder if you're unable to affirm to your gender. So in celebration of pride month, they are running a binder drive for the community in hopes of alleviating the struggles that come with being trans/gnc.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a binder drive?
A binder drive is a drive in which chest binders (which are used to flatten one's chest) are collected and donated to those in need of one! In this drive, we are donating these binders to trans and gender non-conforming people in the city of Santa Clarita Valley. Because of Covid-19, to be safe we will be buying new GC2B binders instead of collecting second-hand binders.

I'm a trans and/or gnc person in need of a binder! How can I claim one?
Please fill out this form right here! If you receive an email back to your inquiry, it means your binder is confirmed!

Do I need to pay for the binder?
Not a penny! But if you would like to financially support us in our drive, please consider donating to our cause so we can provide binders for more people.

When is the latest I can claim a binder?
The latest date to claim a binder will be the 7th of July, as we will be ordering the binders themselves on the 9th of July. We plan to send out the binders on the 24th of July to their respective owners.

Dates subject to change due to binder availability.

How many binders can I inquire to claim?
To ensure that everyone who needs one gets a binder, we are limiting one binder per person.

What are my options in which my binder is delivered?
There are multiple options in which your binder can be delivered:
(1) The binder could be delivered to your door simply as is.
(2) One of our team members can meet up with you and hand you your binder if it is unsafe to deliver it to your home.
The third option will only be available if we reach enough funding.
(3) The binder can be sent disguised with a t-shirt. The binder will be lined within the shirt, and can be removed once it is safe to do so.

Do you guys accept used binders?
Our goal is to give new binders, however due to high demand and lack of funds, we will be accepting used binders! Please go to our contact page and email us if you have a binder you could donate.

Updates
06.23.21
Sent out the binder confirmation email to 16 people. Two people's emails were either not working or their inbox was full. If you inquired about receiving a binder through the form and have yet to receive an email, please email us as soon as possible.

06.25.21
We are more than halfway of our $1,000 goal and have attained 21 inquiries for binder claims! Donations total to $641, however, it is not enough to supply new binders for everyone.

Because of COVID-19 and that these binders are likely to be the first for many trans/gender non-conforming people, our goal is to supply those in need with a new binder. However, to be sure that everyone is able to get a binder, we are now accepting used binders. If you or anyone you know might own one that you/they could donate, please go to our contact page and email us.

Our goal still remains to be able to supply everyone with a new binder, so we would highly appreciate it if you were to donate to our gofundme.

07.03.21
We have reached past our monetary and binder inquiry goal! We have more than enough to provide new binders to the trans and gender non-conforming people who inquired for binders. The leftover money from the fund will be donated to The Okra Project, an American grassroots mutual aid collective that provides support to black trans, non-binary, and gender-nonconforming people. Please visit their website for more information.

Another reminder that we are still accepting binder inquiries and will be closing them on the 7th of July, as we will be ordering the binders themselves on the 9th of July.

Thank you so much for the support this mutual aid fund has gotten. Our team really appreciates the love the community has shown for the project and also for our trans and gnc community in SCV.

07.08.21
The second wave of confirmation emails have been sent out along side responses to personal questions and the binder send out form.

07.11.21
We're having some trouble with withdrawing the funds from the gofundme, however, regardless the binders still will be ordered and sent out.

Please, to those who had their binder confirmed, fill out the binder send out form as soon as possible.
